By partnering with high school college counselors and athletic directors, College GAMEplan becomes an extension of your school’s counseling and athletic program, both technically and financially – more on the financial advantages that College GAMEplan can provide your school later.  College GAMEplan provides parents with reminders of what they need to be doing and when they need to be doing it, throughout their child’s high school career.  Not only do we show and tell them what they need to do, but we provide them with the tools to do it.

College GAMEplan provides proven templates of introduction letters, follow up letters and resumes to help expose athletes and keep college coaches up to date with each student’s success. Let’s take a quick review of how College GAMEplan works:

(Go to home web page)

College GAMEplan recommends that parents take an active role in marketing their children to college coaches.  By spending about $1 per month and working about 1 hour per month for each month of their child’s high school career, College GAMEplan will ensure that parents will have done everything possible to maximize the college playing opportunities for their sons and daughters.

(Show lists of DI thru JUCO school names)

Whether the next step involves playing at NCAA Division I, IAA, II or III, or whether it means contacting NAIA or Junior Colleges across the nation, College GAMEplan will steer parents through the important steps that are appropriate for each month.

Using data spreadsheets that are maintained by students and parents, College GAMEplan provides relevant options for student athletes of all income levels and a wide range of athletic and academic abilities.

(Show home page)

It all starts at the College GAMEplan home page.  Here parents get an opportunity to review College GAMEplan’s emphasis on academics.  Simply put, the higher the student’s grades, the more athletic options available to them.  So it’s important that students subscribe to College GAMEplan early in the high school career.  While waiting until their senior year is one option, we have created financial incentives for parents to subscribe early in their child’s high school career.

(Show cursor click on Academics page)

As a College GAMEplan subscriber, students will receive monthly updates emphasizing the importance of good grades.  We’ll motivate and incent student athletes to stay on top of their class and home work by constantly reminding them and their parents that their college choices and financial aid options are directly related to their success in the classroom as well as on the field.

(Show cursor moving and clicking on GAMEplan Calendar)

Working as an extension of your high school’s college counseling office, your College GAMEplan Calendar will keep you up to date with topics such as when to register for SAT and ACT tests; when to plan college visits, and what to look for and consider during each visit.  We’ll regularly remind parents of the importance of maintaining contact and meeting with your student’s high school college counselor to develop classroom strategies for success and optimize their college opportunities.  And by following the calendar’s recommendations, parents will ensure that they proactively establish and maintain contact with a wide range of college coaches well before the majority of other students who often leave it until the last minute, then don’t know what to send or whom to send it to.

(Show cursor moving to Coaches Coner)

The Coaches Corner provides athletic instruction for student athletes ranging from strength and conditioning tips to nutrition and healthy diets.  High school coaches pass on to student athletes their own advice about preparing for scouts who may visit high school (and club) games and practice sessions.  Use College GAMEplan’s Coaches Corner to find out what important questions your student should be asking college coaches to help them decide if that college and it’s athletic program, is the very best possible fit for the child.  And use this section to keep track of all your student’s athletic and academic awards and accomplishments.   (Show data being entered for “First Team All State”)

(Cursor moves and clicks on Guidance From the College Counselor)

College GAMEplan consistently emphasizes the importance of each its’ subscribing families to work with their high school guidance counselor, both from the student perspective, and from the parental perspective.  But College GAMEplan also recognizes that timetables for student athletes sometimes vary from the traditional counseling timetables developed for the more general student population, and College GAMEplan is cognizant of the fact that high school guidance counselors are often heavily understaffed and overpopulated with students.  So College GAMEplan provides families of student athletes with support for the high school counseling program by encouraging communication with the counselor, while also directly providing guidance on issues such as:  Things to consider when choosing a college; Questions to ask the college admission representative; Room-mate considerations; What to pack for college; When to take, and re-take the ACT and SAT tests; and templates that help you evaluate between multiple college coaches.  And with direct web links to colleges throughout the nation, student athletes and their subscribing families can access information on every college in the nation, regardless of its athletic level.  (Curser moves over different categories within College Counselor, shows templates of Choosing a College, and shows web links to several colleges)

(Cursor moves and clicks on ADvice from the A.D.)

Under Advice from the AD, College GAMEplan provides students with questions to ask college coaches; and lists important considerations for the student athlete.  Our staff of current and former Athletic Directors tell you when it might be necessary, and if necessary, when and how  to develop a video highlight CD or tape, by giving you important considerations and tips for taking and developing the film that you may wish to send to college coaches.  College GAMEplan provides tips on the importance of following up with college coaches and provides links to easily accessible letter templates that can be sent to each college coach after each visit or phone call.  With its easy-to-use, point and click technology, it is easy for families to take full advantage of high school athletic directors and coaches college contacts to quickly adding their names to letter templates and send them out quickly by e-mail.  Or if our subscribers prefer, for only a nominal extra charge, College GAMEplan will provide families with the templates for each letter so hard copy mailings can be mailed.

(Cursor moves and clicks on Selecting A College)

College GAMEplan is fully interactive so no matter where a student or their parent is on the site, easily identifiable links provide quick and easy access to important evaluation tools and templates.  So when you need to make decisions on exactly which is the best school for your child, you can quickly find and use various evaluation tools that weight important considerations in several categories.  Each category is customized to your child so no matter whether he/she wants a large school or a small school, a rural school or an urban setting, or any of many other important considerations, you’ll be able to access and utilize a tool that will help you through the evaluation process and provide you with the knowledge and self satisfaction that you have done everything possible to make the best possible decision for your student athlete.  And by providing links to these tools through several applicable pages on the College GAMEplan web site, you’ll easily be able to find and utilize every tool right at the precise time you’ll be needing to use it.  (Scroll thru links on Calendar and Implement pages to show links)

(Cursor moves and clicks on Financial Aid)

College GAMEplan’s Financial Aid page includes information on different types of aid packages including scholarships, grants and loans.  It is important to understand that College GAMEplan does not in any way provide scholarships for student athletes.  Since scholarships are limited by both colleges and the associations to which each college belongs, the amount (if any) available to incoming freshman is offered entirely at the discretion of the recruiting coach and his athletic program.  But College GAMEplan can help promote your student athlete in the best possible way in order to maximize various applicable financial aid packages.  Since these financial packages very often include awards for academic achievements and accomplishments, College GAMEplan emphasizes throughout the student’s four years in high school, the importance of setting and achieving academic goals.

Also included on the Financial Aid page of College GAMEplan are easily accessible links to important financial aid sites that will help you identify and evaluate your family’s own financial standing regarding financial aid.  And our links to web sites at colleges throughout the nation will provide you with access to the financial aid offices at each institution where staff will be willing to discuss with various options and alternatives. For instance, prior to a big baseball tournament scheduled just two weeks away, James Milner’s dad heard that a coach from Caledonia State University might be attending to scout out potential recruits.  Wanting to ensure the coach would pay attention to his son, Mr. Milner used College GAMEplan to implement his plan.

He reviewed James’ Profile to make sure it was current, then simply clicked on the “Letters” Template under Implement Your GAMEplan, chose “Introduction Letter”.  Then he searched the “College Database” also under Implement Your GAMEplan, and highlighted Caledonia State University.  Since College GAMEplan is customized for James, it knew he played baseball.  So it completed the introduction letter using his home address and phone number, chose the baseball coaches name and address at the college, and after a brief review and confirmation that all the information was accurate and current, with the simple click of a mouse, it sent the e-mail.

When Mr. Milner hadn’t heard back from the coach a couple of days later, he decided he should mail a hard copy too -  just to be doubly sure the coach received it.  So he returned to College GAMEplan, reviewed his past activity and ordered a hard copy of the same letter.  College GAMEplan immediately e-mailed Mr. Milner a template of the letter, again complete with letterhead formatted with Mr. Milner’s home address.  Dad simply printed the letter and mailed it.

A few days later, Mr. Milner identified the college coach (he was the one behind home plate with a clipboard in hand), mentioned that he had e-mailed and mailed a letter introducing his son.  The coach told Mr. Milner that he hadn’t had time to respond but that he was very interested in his son and after seeing his stats earlier, had selected this game over another.  When James was introduced  to the coach, he was prepared to talk to him confident in the knowledge he had gained from studying the Questions to ask College Coaches section, and the Visit a College Campus section of College GAMEplan.  Impressed with his composure and knowledge of his college and baseball program, the coach immediately offered James an unofficial visit to Caledonia State.  James checked out the Selecting a College page, clicked on Planning a College Visit and visited the school looking for all the things he had prioritized on his college evaluation worksheet.

A couple of months went by, the college coach offered a financial package that wasn’t quite as good as some other schools, but after comparing Caledonia State against the other schools using College GAMEplan’s College Evaluation Worksheet, both Mr. And Mrs. Milner and James agreed that it was the only school that provided everything James had wanted.  Using tips from College GAMEplan’s Financial Aid pages, the Milner’s were able to negotiate additional financing options and James signed his Letter of Intent.

A year later, having carefully and thoroughly evaluated his own options, James stood at the plate at Caledonia State University as a freshman waiting for the first pitch of the season.  By making the right decision, James, who was a good student and a good (but not great) athlete, had afforded himself the opportunity to play four more years of competitive baseball at an outstanding academic institute – one of only about 5% of high school athletes who will continue to play sports in college, and one of less than 1% who received some form of athletic scholarship to do so.  Thrilled for James, his parents were also delighted that the financial aid package they had agreed to and that included, scholarship, grant and loan money, had saved them significant dollars on the cost of James’ tuition.

While this scenario is fictional by the school’s name, stories such as this happen every year to subscribers of College GAMEplan.  Whether your child is male or female; whether they are great students or mediocre; whether they play football or women’s lacrosse; all should know that somewhere in the nation, there is likely a college who will want them to play the sport they love.  And equally, there is a school somewhere that is a perfect match for your college student.  When the two meet, parents can relax in the comfort of their child’s future, secure and confident in the knowledge that they, and College GAMEplan, have done everything possible for their slightly nervous but very excited, teenager.  College GAMEplan - It’s the nation’s most comprehensive guide to the college admissions process for student athletes.  And with the cost of college education usually in the mid five figure range, it represents what many say is the nations best return on investment.

$1 per month and 1 hour per month. Encourage your student population to take advantage of College GAMEplan today and start the ball rolling on a unique partnership that can also provide your high school with significant financial rewards for its athletic programs.  And in these days of dwindling state funding and budget cuts, boosts to the revenues of cash starved athletic departments is something that almost every high school needs.  It’s another example of College GAMEplan’s commitment to partnerships with our participating high schools.

For every subscription generated from your school, College GAMEplan will donate 50% of the subscription fee back to your school’s athletic program.  If ten student families subscribe, your school will receive a donation from College GAMEplan in the amount of $250.  If 250 student families subscribe, we’ll donate $6,250 to your school.

Think about it – a $50 subscription fee, beginning in a family’s freshman year, includes a four year college college career plan and instructional tool to supplement the efforts of your counseling program, athletic director, and high school coaches.  That’s about $1 per month and involves only about 1 hour of a parents’ time each month.  And of that subscription, half is donated by College GAMEplan to your high school athletic program.  And the partnership automatically renews.  Each year, as additional students subscribe, College GAMEplan donates another 50% of every College GAMEplan subscription.

Need new sprinklers on a playing field?  Need new pads or helmets?  Need a field surface finish graded?  Need new uniforms?  New storage lockers?  Concession stand upgrades?  Whatever your need, College GAMEplan donations go right to your bottom line.  And the more families your school encourages to participate, the more donations you receive.  You know the students better than we do.  Simply recommend College GAMEplan to the parents of students most likely to benefit.

Let’s assume you are a school of 1,000 students with approximately 250 students in each grade.  If 25% of your student population subscribes to College GAMEplan, you’ll receive a donation in the amount of $6,250.  And each new school year as 250 new freshmen arrive in school, assuming 25% of them subscribe each year, we’ll send you a donation of at least $1,550 per year.  Using the same averages, if your school has a student population of 2,500, we’ll send your athletic department a donation of $15,625, and almost $4,000 each year thereafter that you partner with College GAMEplan.
