Returning to School ...

 

stadiumIf like most students, you will be returning to school within the next few weeks, make a plan to get your high school year off to the best possible start.  It is important to “kick-start” your new high school year both academically and athletically.  For your sport, begin an aggressive workout schedule to get yourself in shape and build your strength, speed, and endurance by implementing a weight lifting program under the supervision of your high school coach or other strength and conditioning professional.

Goals and Objectives

 

Whether you are a high school freshman or senior, it’s a good idea to begin the new school year practicing a procedure that will serve you well the rest of your life – setting your own personal goals and objectives.  

 

Setting goals is not just about identifying what you’d like to see happen.  It is about laying out your short and long term plans in writing, then creating an action plan to make them happen, and holding yourself accountable to make sure you meet your objectives within the specified timeframe.

With the beginning of the new school year, coaches will soon begin conducting parent meetings for their respective sports.  A topic often discussed during these meetings is fundraising.  With high school athletic budgets consistently being squeezed throughout the nation, the importance of a proactive Booster Club is arguably more important then ever before.  However, while Booster Clubs are generally well accepted among private high schools, some public high school parents still don't understand why additional funds are required.
