Summer Camps Give Athletes the Opportunity to Get Noticed

With Summer approaching, it's time to start thinking about summer sports camps.  If you play your cards right, camps can offer a terrific exposure opportunity for high school athletes looking to move on to the college level.

Let's answer the question, "Why should I try to attend a summer sports camp?"  There are a few good answers to this question.  First, it gives you the opportunity to get better as an athlete.  Competition for scholarships is fierce, and if you aren't doing things to improve your overall skill you are hurting your chances of earning a sports scholarship.  Second, it allows you to be seen by college coaches who might be attending the camps.  At the very least, you’ll be seen by the coaches running the camp.

10 Week Summer Training Program

College GAMEplan brings you a 10 week summer training program that provides a workout schedule designed to help build your strength and stamina over the summer, and to help prepare you for your school’s upcoming fall season.  Designed for incoming college freshmen, this workout focuses on running and cardio drills - simply supplement it with applicable drills for your specific sport to create a customized program specifically for you.  If you have a program that your high school or college coach has already given you, stick to it instead.  If you don’t have another program, the following can be used as a base program to help you stay in shape and prepare.

Your College GAMEplan for Summer

It is the opinion of many that if you are good enough to play college sports, you will already be being recruited by the end of your junior year.  While that statement may be true for some blue chip athletes, it is far from the truth for the majority of college athletes.
